Redlands Water and Power Company (RW&PC), originally founded in 1905 is seeking to fill the position of full-time Power Plant Operator.

RW&PC supplies irrigation water to the area of the Grand Valley known as the Redlands, servicing about 6,000 shares of water stock over 4,500 acres of land in the Redlands area of western Colorado. RW&PC is committed to delivering irrigation water and clean hydro-power electricity for a greener environment.

The ideal candidate produces basic to proficient knowledge of all aspects of basic water flow and electrical experience to control, operate, and maintain machinery to generate electric power, water pumps and gates. Knowledge of 3-phase medium voltage (2,400), and experience with back-up and primary DC battery banks. Position includes operating auxiliary equipment and assets with canals, ditches, flumes, siphons, or other facilities run by the company including the fish screen (as “ditch rider responsibilities”) working daily as needed during scheduled work hours and in emergency situations always in a safe and timely manner.

This position requires that during scheduled shifts the “Power Plant Operator” either live on site in Company provided housing or within a maximum 10-minute response time to the plant site. Full time housing may be allowed for the operator and family under certain circumstances and conditions. A separate “Employee Housing Agreement” is required.

Compensation and Benefits:
• Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications, starting from $25.00 up to $30.00 per hour.
• Vacation Pay (after 1-Yr. ) and 7 Paid Holidays (6 fixed and 1 Floating).

• Special wages for Emergency Callouts.

Work Schedule and Environment:
• Variable from 8 to 13 hour daily shifts with some overtime is required, varies from Sunday through Saturday.
• Some emergency “call-out” work may be required as needed during non-regular or after hour schedule.
• Typical weather elements in this region. Industrial work environment including outdoor exposure.
• This position requires that the “Power Plant Operator” live on site in company house due to required response time during shift, and/or full-time as well. A separate “Employee Housing Agreement” is required.

Qualifications and Skills:
➢ 2+ years proven hands-on professional in electrical, construction or maintenance person or prior related industry experience. Prior experience in electric generation or large irrigation/canal company is a plus.
➢ 2+ years of experience in basic data entry in electronic applications and spreadsheets.
➢ Valid Colorado driver’s license with safe driving abilities and acceptable driving record.
➢ Experience operating high voltage equipment is a plus. Some heavy lifting (70 lbs.) required.
➢ Detail-oriented, organized, consistent, dependable, and honest. Familiarity with GIS mapping is a plus.
➢ Analytical and mechanical mindset; good with numbers, mobile apps, and mechanisms.
➢ Fluent in communicating clearly and interacting with employees & customers.

Required to pass Drug Screening; Pre-employment and random, background screening and Motor Vehicle report clearance per company insurance guidelines is mandatory.
